CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife once again demonstrated on Saturday afternoon that it is a team in full construction and that its game is growing as the weeks go by, becoming a competitive team in the Guerreras Iberdrola League. San José Obrero put one of the great favorites of the category against the ropes, having to work hard for Mecalia Atlético Guardés to add the two points that were at stake, with the match being decided in favor of the Galicians in the final minutes of the match.

The match started in an unbeatable way for CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife, establishing their style of play on the court and being superior to their rival. Ana Radovic and Gema Trujillo were in charge of putting the 2-0 on the scoreboard, and with an intense defense they stopped all the offensive attempts of Mecalia Atlético Guardés. Andrea Boner, Mornesa Tenda and Gema Trujillo put the 5-1 on the scoreboard, with Ana Seabra having to request a time-out when only six minutes had been played.

The referees set the bar quite high in these opening minutes, and the defensive actions of CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife were penalized with three exclusions in the first eight minutes, two of them suffered by Alba Tort. The timeout requested by the Galician team gave the expected results, achieving a 1-8 partial to turn the result around, and above all, taking advantage of Ania Ramos' speed in the counterattack actions (6-9).

The pivot Rocío Squizziato and a seven-meter throw by Gema Trujillo kept CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife alive in the minutes remaining until halftime. With a tight score of 13 to 14, the first 30 minutes came to an end at the Titerroy Municipal Pavilion.

Mecalia Atlético Guardés pulled away in the opening minutes of the second half, once again extending their lead to three goals. Ania Ramos was in charge of executing a precise lob shot from the left wing to make it 15-18 on the scoreboard, forcing Alfredo Rodríguez to call another timeout.

CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife reacted and, based on an impregnable defense, gradually reduced the difference. The Lanzarote team had several attacks to establish the tie, with Melania Cabrera finally tying the score in the 21st minute of the second half (19-19). The public made itself felt from the stands, recovering that great atmosphere of the great handball afternoons in Titerroy.Mecalia Atlético Guardés kept their cool, once again distancing themselves on the scoreboard with a 1-4 run.
