CB Lanzarote Zonzamas added the second victory of the season on Saturday afternoon, after defeating Rubensa BM Porriño by 21 to 28. The "batateras" arrived at the match with doubts after a long preseason, in which they could only play two preparation matches and to which was added the non-appearance of their rival last week. Zonzamas went from less to more and it was in the second half when they put land in between to add the two points that were at stake.
CB Lanzarote Zonzamas was quick to take the reins on the scoreboard, being the team that marked the first differences, although showing problems when elaborating their attacking plays. BM Porriño's defense did not allow the Lanzarote team to be comfortable on the court, pressing the ball circulation and forcing the visitors to use the outside shot.
Juan Rivera made this reading from the bench, requesting a time-out when he saw his team's problems in the attacking actions (4-5). After the instructions from the bench, Paula Gómez tied the match with a shot from the left wing (5-5) and the worst minutes of Zonzamas on the court arrived.
The double exclusion of Jailene Maldonado and María de León was used by Rubensa Porriño to take the lead for the first time on the scoreboard. Cristina Martínez's goal when penetrating through the center of the defense put the 9 to 8 on the scoreboard of the Porriño Municipal Pavilion.
CB Lanzarote Zonzamas' reaction was immediate and with a 0 to 3 partial they regained the initiative. The goals scored by Brenda Roger, Rocío Guerrero and Ariadna Molina, made it 10 - 12. A first half that concluded with the goals of Mariangeles de Uriarte from the pivot and Rocío Guerrero from the right wing, reaching the break with the score of 11 to 15.
CB Lanzarote Zonzamas began to put land in between in the first minutes of the second half. Ariadna Molina with a seven-meter shot, Chaxi Hernández from the wing and Rocío Guerrero, scored the first three goals of their team (11-18). BM Porriño was close to seven minutes without scoring, crashing against a successful Cristina Mazaira under the sticks and who gave the relay to her teammate Ana Martín who continued to leave the bar of the goalkeepers quite high.
Ana Alonso on the verge of passive was in charge of breaking the partial of the Lanzarote team and shortly after Abel Estévez had to ask for the second time-out of the match to prevent CB Lanzarote Zonzamas from finishing breaking the match (13-21). The time-out of the Galician team arrived after a new partial of 0-3 with the goals of Jailene Maldonado, Brenda Roger and Ariadna Molina.
After maturing the match with the passing of the minutes, Zonzamas faced the final part of the match managing the advantage that he had acquired and preventing Rubensa BM Porriño from approaching on the scoreboard. The advantage was around 8 goals, so the tranquility was maximum.
With the result of 21 to 28 the end of the match was reached, adding CB Lanzarote Zonzamas the second victory of the season, the first on the court after the non-appearance of the CDEC Lavadores Vigo last day. The Lanzarote team receives on Sunday, October 11, from 18:00 hours, Amubal Meaño.
