Ca´Mario Lanzarote San José Obrero manages to seize the second position in group F of the First National Men's League, after winning on Tuesday morning against Atlas Balonmano Bolaños, in the postponed match corresponding to the 7th matchday. It was not an easy match for the players trained by Nacho Vico, having many problems in defense in the first half and improving substantially in the second half. The physical power of Ca´Mario Lanzarote San José Obrero was one of the keys to defeat BM Bolaños and place themselves in positions that give the right to play the promotion phase at the end of the season.
Atlas Balonmano Bolaños showed their intentions from the beginning of the match, with a very rocky defense and an attack that put Ca´Mario Lanzarote San José Obrero in trouble. A match that started with a 0-2 partial in favor of those from Ciudad Real, with Vicente Poveda being in charge of scoring the first local goal.
The visitors put a 5:1 defense on the court, always pressing Vicente Poveda so that he would not receive easily and that at times seemed like a mixed defense on one of the most important players of Ca´Mario Lanzarote San José Obrero. The first goals of Atlas BM Bolaños were scored by Oscar Pinilla, four of them from the seven-meter line, being punished with penalties the defensive actions of the locals.
Ca´Mario Lanzarote San José Obrero failed to adjust its 6:0 defense and saw how Atlas BM Bolaños obtained its maximum lead in the 17th minute, having a three-goal advantage (5-8). Ca´Mario Lanzarote reacted with a 3-0 partial and tied the match with ten minutes remaining for the end of the first half of the match.
Atlas BM Bolaños distanced themselves again on the scoreboard in the final minutes of the first half, taking advantage of some bad ball circulations by the locals. With a few seconds left for the end of the period, a loss in attack was taken advantage of by Juan Ángel Calzado to make it 11-14. In the last play of the first half, Rubén Caraballo put the difference in the two goals, reaching the break with the result of 12-14.
The coach of Ca´Mario Lanzarote San José Obrero, Nacho Vico, changed the defensive system in the second half. He started the period with a 5:1 defense, although seeing that it did not give him the expected results, he ordered a mixed defense on Oscar Pinilla, a player of Atlas BM Bolaños who had been a real nightmare in the first half for the local defense.
The game of Ca´Mario Lanzarote San José Obrero was growing as the minutes passed. Alexis Rodríguez, a player who together with Nico Nuñez had taken the reins of the team's attack, culminated a 3-0 partial to tie the match (17-17). The attacks of San José Obrero were being more fluid in this second half, although it is also true that there were some rushes, especially in the attacks through the wings.
The visiting coach was forced to request a time-out, and after the instructions from the bench came the goals of Veljko Davidovic and Nico Nuñez, who put the score at 19-17. Oscar Pinilla was in charge of breaking the 5-0 partial that Ca´Mario Lanzarote San José Obrero had achieved and that had allowed them to get ahead on the scoreboard. The locals were opening the gap on the scoreboard as the minutes passed, facing the final stretch with much more tranquility.
The defense of Ca´Mario Lanzarote San José Obrero had managed to stop the attacks of Atlas Balonmano Bolaños. The mixed defense on Oscar Pinilla did a lot of damage to the Ciudad Real team in the second half. A visiting team that did not hesitate to attack with five when they suffered some exclusion on the court, using the goalkeeper/player strategy.
With the result of 29 to 25 the match came to an end, adding Ca´Mario Lanzarote San José Obrero the sixth consecutive victory since the arrival of Nacho Vico to the bench of the team. Numbers that allow them to be placed in the second position of the classification of group F of the First National Men's Handball League. Without time for rest, the components of San José Obrero are already thinking about the match on Saturday against BM Montequinto, from 19:30 hours in the Municipal Pavilion of Titerroy.
