Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife calms nerves and achieves victory

Jesús Rodríguez debuts with a win on the San José Obrero bench, defeating Bueu Atlético Balonmano

BALONMANO. SAN JOSÉ OBRERO BUEU (4)

After three matchdays without a victory and the change of coach registered this week, Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife could not afford another setback. In a match with too many nerves, the San José Obrero players calmed down as the minutes went by and ended up beating Bueu Atlético Balonmano 37-33. Jesús Rodríguez debuts on the bench with a victory and transmitting intensity from the sidelines.

The Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife faced the match with several absences due to injury, and Jesús Rodríguez introduced some modifications to the game system. He played with Acoidán Martín as center, Abián Martín and Santiago Cardone occupied the double pivot in attack, and Adrián Juárez played as a false winger.

The first few minutes were even, although little by little Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife began to pull away on the scoreboard. The goals from Ángel Iglesias, who played as a winger at times during the match, and the scores from Acoidán Martín, completed a 5-0 run, to gain a five-goal advantage before the halfway point of the first half (11-6).

The timeout called by the coach of Bueu Atlético Balonmano allowed the Galician team to start playing with a 5:1 defense. This system began to hinder the home team's offensive play, and they started to get back into the game. The first half ended in Titerroy with a score of 20 to 18.

The defensive intensity of Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife was key in the first minutes of the second half, conceding only three goals in the first twenty minutes. Several defensive steals and quick counter-attacks put the score at 25-19, forcing Bueu Atlético Balonmano to call a timeout. After instructions from the bench, Joel Armas increased the lead to seven goals. The last ten minutes of the match dragged on, with Bueu Atlético Balonmano playing a 3:3 defense that Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife struggled with too much. The home team lost several balls, and the Galicians gradually chipped away at the lead. José López scored a seven-meter throw to leave the advantage at two goals (33-31).In the last four minutes, Mauro Jaureguiberry scored, Saúl Rodríguez made a very meritorious save, and Ángel Iglesias increased the lead to four goals (35-31). The final moments of the match were an exchange of goals, leading to the conclusion of the game with a score of 37 to 33.

The victory, the first for Jesús Rodríguez as coach, allows Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife to maintain its third position in Group A of the First National Men's League. San José Obrero will play at home again next matchday, hosting Balonmano Ribeiro Rodosa Ourense Provincial Termal, a game scheduled for Saturday at 7:30 PM in Titerroy.
