San José Obrero scores its fifth victory of the season by defeating [the opponent] 28 to 31

PREVIA. CAÑIZA SAN JOSÉ OBRERO (2)

Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife did not trust the league position of their rival this Sunday morning, and it was clear that Saeplast Balonmano Cañiza was going to make them work hard for their defeat. And so it was, the Galician team never allowed San José Obrero to gain a significant advantage and fought until the final minutes to snatch some points from the Lanzarote team.

The match began with Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife creating distance in the opening minutes, achieving a 0-3 partial score with goals from Ángel Iglesias (2) from the wing and Joel Armas at the end of a counterattack. Saeplast Balonmano Cañiza quickly reacted, hitting their rival with a 4-0 partial score to take the lead.

In this first part, the Galicians managed to have a maximum lead of two goals, although it was neutralized by the visitors. Ángel Iglesias, with a precise lob, leveled the score, and Mauro Jaureguiberry put San José Obrero ahead. In the following defensive action, Mauro Jaureguiberry was disqualified from the match with a red card, with Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife losing one of its mainstays in defense and attack.

David Betancort called a timeout during the last offensive play of the first half, trying to ensure his team went into the break with a three-goal lead. The rehearsed play didn't work out, Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife lost possession, and Sergi Corcuera scored on the buzzer to make it 14-15 at halftime.

In the opening minutes of the second half, Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife managed to establish a four-goal lead, and it seemed the match was breaking open for good. Javi Aragón scored two goals to make it 17-21, forcing the home coach to call a timeout. Upon returning to the court, Pedro Noda finished off a counterattack to increase the difference to five goals.

Saeplast Balonmano Cañiza never gave up, and with a 3-0 run, they got back into the game (20-22). David Betancort didn't want his team to get complacent, calling a timeout with six minutes left, when his team still had a two-goal lead (25-27).

Exchange of goals until the end of the match, with Saeplast Balonmano Cañiza even having the chance to be one goal behind in the last minute, but Saúl Rodríguez made a very meritorious intervention to stop Alan da Silva's counterattack.

With a score of 28-31, the match came to an end, with Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife adding their fifth victory of the season and sharing the lead in the Primera Nacional Masculina with Valinox Novás. In the sixth round, San José Obrero will host Disciclin Balonmano Lalín, a match scheduled for Sunday, October 19 at 12:00 noon in Titerroy.
