Auria Badminton Club Wins Seven Medals at the Canary Islands Championship

Álvaro Guadalupe is proclaimed champion of the Canary Islands in the under-11 category

This past weekend, the Canary Islands U11, U13, and U15 Badminton Championship was held, a competition that featured the participation of seven players from Auria Badminton Club. The tournament took place throughout Saturday at the Manuel Borges Cedrés Municipal Pavilion facilities in Tenerife, with Álvaro Guadalupe achieving a notable result in the U11 boys' category, being crowned Canary Islands champion.

Álvaro Guadalupe started as the number two seed in the tournament, a condition he leveraged in the group stage to achieve victory against Guayre Hernández (15-7, 15-4) and Adrián Pinzón (15-8, 15-5). In the quarterfinals, he defeated Francisco José González (15-11, 15-11) and in the semifinals, he triumphed over Izán Mouriño (15-5, 15-3). And in the grand final, he dominated his match against Manuel Cabrera (15-11, 15-7), to defeat the number one seed and win the gold medalÁlvaro Guadalupe also climbed to the top of the podium alongside David Rodríguez in the U13 boys' doubles. The two players from Auria Bádminton Club reached the grand final by defeating Ezequiel Domínguez – Marvin Plasencia (21-7, 21-15) and Álvaro Acosta – Yael Saavedra (21-17, 21-18) in the group stage. In the final, they beat the pair formed by Antonio Jesús Fumero and Aarón Mayor (21-18, 15-21, 21-18), players from CD Pajaritos, in a close match

Hugo de la Paz Paradas and Isaac Rincón took the second step on the podium in the U11 boys' doubles. They won all three group stage matches to reach the final, triumphing against Ángel Ancor González – Izán Mouriño (15-11, 10-15, 15-10), Miguel Ortiz – Bruno Pérez (15-8, 15-6), and Leiner Leonel Inlago – Nicolás Nauzet Suárez (18-16, 15-12). In the medal match, they fell in the final against Eduardo Jesús González and Francisco José González (8-15, 10-15).

David Rodríguez and Nerea Padrón won bronze medals in the under-13 category. David Rodríguez was eliminated in the semi-final round against Felipe Pérez (21-17, 15-21, 15-21), the number one seed. Nerea Padrón was also defeated in the penultimate round by Zoe De Olano (14-21, 19-21), the number two seed. And in the under-11 mixed doubles, Kaiwen Shi, along with Kerlyn Sofía Torrellas (CD Ohada Flick), won the bronze medal.

The Auria Badminton Club's medal tally at the Canary Islands Championship was completed with the silver won by Jacob López and Nerea Padrón in the U13 mixed doubles. They reached the final by defeating Airam David Steux – Gara Sánchez (21-19, 14-21, 22-20) and Marthin Adrián Ruiz – Gara Pérez (21-14, 21-19). In the final match, they were unable to overcome the number one seeds, losing to Felipe Pérez – Marta Siverio (18-21, 9-21).

Auria Bádminton Club's participation in the Canary Islands U11, U13, and U15 Championship concludes with a tally of seven medals; 2 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze. These results endorse the work that has been carried out in this first part of the season at the Lanzarote club.
