Auria Badminton brings home four medals from the TOP TTR Las Playitas

The season officially kicked off for the Auria Badminton Club's competition team this past weekend, with eight club members participating in the TOP TTR Las Playitas, a category N7 tournament held in the under-13, under-17, and absolute categories. Young David Rodríguez was proclaimed runner-up in the under-13 category, and three bronze medals were won in the doubles modality.

The Auria Badminton expedition that traveled to the island of Fuerteventura was composed of Isaac Rincón, Álvaro Guadalupe, David Rodríguez, Nerea Padrón, Patricia Vargas, Zhi Tao Li, Alejandro Rijo, and Oliver Gausmann. They were accompanied during the weekend by Jorge Oliverio Pérez as coach.

At the individual level, the best result was obtained by David Rodríguez in the under-13 male category. In the group stage, he won his two matches against Diego Ramírez (21-17, 21-15) and Airam David Steux (14-21, 21-18, 21-17), and entered the fight for the medals by defeating Álvaro Acosta in the quarterfinals (21-8, 21-19). In the semifinals, he had a complicated match against Felipe Pérez (12-21, 21-11, 21-15), and in the grand final, he could not defeat Aarón Mayor (19-21, 12-21), achieving the silver medal.

In the male doubles of the under-13 category, the pair formed by Álvaro Guadalupe and Isaac Rincón won the bronze medal by defeating Lionel Escudero and Diego Ramírez (21-16, 21-18) and falling to Eduardo Jesús González and Francisco José González (13-21, 16-21).

Alejandro Rijo won two bronze medals in the doubles modality of the absolute category. The first of them forming a pair in the male category with his clubmate Zhi Tao Li. And the second, in the mixed doubles together with Claudia Haugaard (Club Tecnocasa Fuenlabrada), after defeating Samuel Mayor and Oriana Sosa (21-10, 21-9) and falling to Lot Socas and Carmen Delia Alonso (17-21, 12-21).
