El Reducto beach has merged into applause, joy and tears on the morning of this Sunday watching the Spanish team seal a great victory for women's football in Spain. The initiative launched from the Arrecife City Hall, jointly with the Department of Tourism and Commerce, has allowed many people to enjoy, and watch live on the big screen, this great triumph of the Spanish Women's Football Team, where there is a presence of Canary Island players.
This Sunday, on El Reducto beach, as it was achieved with the Great Gathering of the South Africa 2010 World Cup Final, it has been a celebration for this victory of La Roja. On this emblematic beach of the capital of Lanzarote a new chapter has been written for history. Watching live, with the giant screen deployed by the Arrecife City Council, the Spanish women's world champions in their victory against England.
The team stood in the final of the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and this Sunday the fans in Lanzarote have been able to see live this great victory.
The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León Machín, together with the councilor of Tourism and Commerce, Eli Merino, finalized this technical deployment so that this great match could be followed on the Arrecife beach.
The capital of Lanzarote is celebrating in these weeks of August its patron saint festivities in honor of San Ginés. In parallel, the existing technical equipment on the beach has been optimized for this live broadcast.
As the mayor and the Tourism councilor have pointed out, this initiative allows to reinforce the dynamization of the Arrecife waterfront to support the hotel sector and leisure SMEs on a Sunday morning.
Yonathan de León witnessed the final on the beach, together with the councilors of Tourism, Eli Merino, and Sports, Juanjo López. Also present with the mayor were the councilors of Beaches and Environment and Security and Emergencies, Óscar López, and Kevin Cortés, respectively. The vice president of the Cabildo, Jacobo Medina, and the island's Sports councilor, Juan Monzón, accompanied the local authorities in this initiative to support women's sports and the dynamization of the island.
Among the public present in El Reducto were many British citizens, belonging to the English community residing in Lanzarote.
