Arrecife has become, for two weekends, the epicenter of the Latin sail dinghies, with the celebration of the thirty-fourth edition of the Canary Islands Championship of Latin Sail Dinghies of 5 Meters "City and Port of Arrecife". The eight races held in the bay of the capital of Lanzarote crowned David Martín's Romerito as the new Canary Islands champion, accompanied on the podium by Tritón and Graciplus. The trophy presentation held on Saturday afternoon marks the culmination of the XXXIV Canary Islands Championship of Latin Sail Dinghies.

The trophy presentation ceremony was attended by the president of the Canarian Federation of Latin Sail Barges, Luis Toledo Romero, who was accompanied by the Director of Indigenous Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, Lorena Hernández, the deputy mayor of Arrecife, Echedey Eugenio, the councilor for Physical Activity and Sports of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Juan Monzón, and the councilor for Sports of Yaiza, Ángel Lago. Also present were Juan Pérez, José Pascual Perdomo, and Manuel Farías, presidents of the island federations of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and Gran Canaria, respectively.

The timple of José Vicente Pérez, the guitar of Adrián Niz, and the voice of Fabiola Fernández opened the event at the facilities of the Insular Center for Nautical Sports, in Marina Colón. Next, the members of the 27 boats participating in the Canary Islands Latin Sailboat Championship took the stage, and collaborating companies and institutions were also recognized, all of them receiving a gift designed by artist Carlos García.

One of the most emotional moments of the afternoon was the recognition of one of those people who have always worked to keep the passion for Latin sail boats alive, training different generations on the island of Fuerteventura. Pascual Perdomo Santana received the gold pin from the Canary Federation of Latin Sail Boats, in recognition of his work in favor of Canary Latin sail boats. Pascual received the applause of all present to recognize one of the key figures in Latin sail boats in the Canary Islands

The members of Isidoro y Manuela Metálicas del Norte were the first to take the stage, receiving the "red lantern" as the last-placed team in the general classification, but above all valuing the great effort made by the women's team from the island of Fuerteventura to complete each of the scheduled races.

Nete Armas' Graciplus received the trophy as third place in the Canary Islands Championship of 5-Meter Latin Sailboats "Ciudad y Puerto del Arrecife". Kevin Cabrera's Tritón finished the competition in a meritorious second position, narrowly missing out on revalidating the championship title won in the previous edition. And the biggest applause went to the members of Romerito as the new Canary Islands champions.

The night concluded with a get-together dinner for the Latin sail family, where the sailors could share their experiences from two weekends of competition. Arrecife hands over the baton to the island of Fuerteventura, which will host the XXXV Canary Islands Latin Sail Boat Championship in 2026.
