The tenth edition of the Famara Total experienced its great day this Saturday with the dispute of the four race modalities, in a vibrant atmosphere that combined competitive intensity and popular celebration. The event was once again consolidated as an essential event in the Canary trail calendar, bringing together more than 1,300 participants during three days in a unique environment where sport, nature and fun merged.
The great protagonists of the day were the winners of the queen modality of 45 kilometers, Alejandro Mayor and Yasmina Castro, who repeated their triumph in the race and confirmed their dominance in Famara.
The day started at 07:00 hours with the departure of the 45 km distance, reserved for the most experienced runners. With more than 70 registered, the race fulfilled the predictions and there were no surprises in the outcome. Alejandro Mayor crossed the finish line first with a time of 4:23:51, followed by Misael León (4:34:38) and Rubén Rodríguez (4:37:09). In the women's category, the victory went to Yasmina Castro (5:02:02), who beat Ruth Brito (5:46:00) and Elena Valiente (5:56:29).
At the end, Mayor acknowledged that he had not had the best sensations after competing and winning in the Vertical Nocturne, although the accumulated training allowed him to perform to the maximum: "The volume of work is noticeable, in the end I gave everything to reach the finish line. The organization surpasses itself every year, they have an enviable event and I will always come back when I can." For her part, Castro stressed that she ran by sensations from the beginning: "I knew I had to push and it went well. Great race and great organization, my congratulations. I hope to be here next year too."
At 08:00 hours the 25 km race started, a demanding distance that once again had Yoel de Paz as the main protagonist, winner for the second consecutive year with a record of 1:53:02. The men's podium was completed by José Antonio Hernández (1:59:31) and Sergio Machín (2:04:05). In women, the winner was Lorena Padrón (2:29:40), followed by Anya Lamprecht (2:35:16) and Sandra Ortiz (2:46:18).
In the middle of the morning, at 09:15 hours, it was the turn of the 15 km, a leg-breaking modality with hardly any flat sections. The triumph was for Edwin Camacho (1:16:41), while in women Estela Guerra (1:32:26) won. Finally, the shortest modality of 7.5 km, shared between runners and hikers, crowned Tinguaro Quintero (32:31) and María José Pina (43:23).
The awards ceremony was supported by local authorities such as the mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, and the Councilor for Sports of Teguise, Alejandro Ramírez, who highlighted the importance of the event both for its sporting value and for its social and tourist impact.
The music put the finishing touch to three intense days with the performances of Café con Leche and Los Lola, who encouraged participants and the public in Caleta de Famara.
