Yonathan de León has come out this week with some very bombastic statements to the media, according to the right-wing mayor, "if it were in Catalonia or the Basque Country there would already be a solution", he is clearly referring to the migratory problem that our archipelago is having. But he does not comment on some very relevant data, which should make us think that de León is either ignorant on the matter or is a liar who manipulates reality to generate hatred.
First of all, we are going to dwell a little on Catalonia. Did you know that the autonomous community of Spain that welcomes the largest number of immigrants is Catalonia? Specifically, in the period from 2017 to 2021, this community welcomed 100,000 immigrants annually, according to a study by the prestigious TBS business school. A stratospheric figure that leaves Yonathan as a true... put the adjective yourselves.
On the other hand, Mr. de León has criticized the stay of immigrants, in this sense it should be noted that there are two types: adults and minors. The adults are being transferred within 72 hours after their detention, and they leave the island. This has been achieved thanks, among other things, to the CATE, which is that temporary center that is in Arrecife and that the PP and its mayor wanted to avoid at all costs, they spoke of crime, of panic in the streets of Arrecife with waves of thousands of immigrants stealing, raping and everything... the truth is that the transfer of immigrants works, and regardless of whether there are times when there are unforeseen spikes, the referrals are good.
And finally the minors. The competence of immigrant minors lies with the autonomous communities. Have we seen Yonathan de León say anything like this?: "Don't worry, I will meet with my party and ask for solidarity from the communities (most of them governed by PP-VOX) so that they share the burden of immigration." We will not see it, because, although emptied Spain demands more population, the right does not want immigrants even as a joke.
In short: Yonathan de León, insults the community that receives the most immigrants per year, generating hatred towards Catalans, does not ask his party colleagues for solidarity between autonomies, and of course tried to boycott the installation of the CATE, confusing and frightening citizens. He is either ignorant, or he is a liar, you decide, but the truth is that he is irresponsible... and perhaps after the PP lost the elections in Arrecife, that the candidate Astrid Pérez ran out of the capital, and two from the same list, María Jesús Tovar, gave the scare to the council, it is possible that the three was not prepared for what was coming...
