We continue to discuss the same issues, as if time had stopped on this island of saturation. Saturation of repeated promises, promises shamelessly broken, promises with a taste of negligence and impudence. The contents of the electoral programs in most political formations are similar to those presented in the last elections, in those of eight years ago, ...
And the funniest thing of all... These same purposes are raised by parties that have had direct responsibilities in public management tasks and have not known or have not wanted to develop them.
Commitment to citizens and in the efficient management of public resources, advancing towards a community and proximity model of social services, local equality plans, the organization and protection of the territory, a firm commitment to sustainability and clean energy, the active participation of citizens in public management, bridging the digital divide, preserving heritage, caring for our elders, promoting family reconciliation programs, revitalizing socio-cultural centers, modernization plans, establishing new mobility, establishing fair and transparent public procurement criteria...? And so many more issues! Most of them essential proposals that transcend ideological spheres, so they are found, without distinction, in the objectives of action raised by the different political formations.
They are repeated endlessly, again and again... In some cases because they have not known how to do it; in others, bureaucratic inconveniences or the absence of adequate expert guidance have hindered their development. In the most egregious cases, it can only be said that they have not felt like doing anything...
An electoral program measures the candidate's ability to make an accurate diagnosis of the problems and how to face them. We could point out that it is a political contract between the citizens and the party that presents it. Despite its repeated breach, citizens do not claim the terms of the same.
We settle into complaining, relapsing into the "routine vote", unable to shed that unwavering loyalty to the party in power. It doesn't matter if everything is rotten inside, if they haven't applied what they proclaimed as dogma, if they have crossed the red lines that they themselves drew... We are guided by emotions, by the feeling produced by the helplessness of the absence of frameworks or related ideological references.
That politicians do not fulfill their commitments is directly linked to the citizens they face. An demanding citizenry effectively discourages attempts at empty and self-serving political propaganda. Obviously, without neighborhood responsibility or social education, the possibility of precipitating improvements in the life of the community is severely curtailed.
Well, that's it.... Time does not pass through the electoral programs. Very few novelties, nothing really interesting for the average citizen. Promises that remain in the collective consciousness, that impoverish the political thresholds and tinge with discredit the speeches elaborated with care
However, I do not resist the surprise, to listen carefully to other forms of intervention. I am sure that, if they try, if they firmly aspire to improve this island, if they awaken from the eternal battles of egos and shed the reciprocal reproaches... then they will have things to tell us without pantomimes, without orchestrated strategies for the destruction of the ideological adversary. I don't know if it will be asking too much. I don't know if maturity is a purpose to be implemented in public management... I don't know if they want to or, better said, I don't know if those who are there can do it!...
Despite this weakness of confidence in the island politicians, despite this collective disaster that we have engendered (our patience and passivity are frightening), despite observing the same detachments, the same lukewarmness, the same dark clouds, the same impossible missions... Despite everything, if they want to, they can consider changing course...
