The National Police, a pillar of security and coexistence in Arrecife

Each year, the celebration of the Holy Guardian Angels, patrons of the National Police, gives us the opportunity to stop and reflect on the value of an institution that is a fundamental part of our life in common. This is not just a holiday, but a day to recognize the commitment, the vocation of service and the dedication of the men and women who make up the Corps.

In Arrecife, the National Police occupies a central place in guaranteeing citizen security. Their daily work, often discreet and silent, sustains the confidence of citizens that we live in a free, safe and protected society. From prevention work to the investigation of crimes, from the protection of the most vulnerable to surveillance in moments of special risk, the agents become referents of responsibility and professionalism.

The National Police not only protects our streets, but also accompanies society in its present and future objectives. It does so in educational centers, with talks and preventive programs aimed at young people; in the fight against new forms of crime, such as cybercrime; or in cooperation with other security forces and emergency services. This is a shared, coordinated effort, always aimed at guaranteeing democratic coexistence.

This commitment is not understood without solid human values: the sense of duty, empathy, sacrifice and closeness to the citizens. The figure of each agent reminds us that security is not an abstract concept, but a public service that requires vocation and humanity. Today is also a time to honor the memory of those who gave their lives in the line of duty, a supreme example of loyalty to the oath to protect others.

As Island Director of the General State Administration in Lanzarote, I would like to convey my most sincere recognition to all the members of the National Police assigned to Arrecife. They are an essential part of our present and our future, an indispensable support for the social peace that allows us to grow as a society.

May this festivity of its patron saint also be a collective reminder of the importance of caring for, respecting and valuing those who protect us every day. Because security is the basis of freedom, and in the National Police, a firm ally to preserve coexistence and democracy.
