Opinion

Thank you compañera

Thank you Rocío for putting in writing and clearly what a large part of the membership of our party thinks about the situation created by Pedro San Ginés in the Cabildo of Lanzarote.

I can understand that public and organic positions sometimes have to maintain an extra level of discretion, but the silence of our party was becoming deafening and you have been able to break it.

And you have done it, in addition, making very clear the origin of the conflict: the intolerable interference of the president in an area that corresponds to the Socialist Party.

Some have insisted on confusing public opinion by implying that the PSOE has insisted on the staunch defense of an official, even accusing the public employee of being a member of the Socialist Party.

No. It is not true. Leopoldo Díaz is not the cause of the breakdown of the pact, no matter how much his honorability, his loyalty to the first island institution and his defense of legality make him worthy of the greatest respect.

The one who torpedoes the agreement is a haughty president, incapable of recognizing either his own limits or his limitations as a person. A president who, perhaps to mark his position from the first moment, interferes in a decision that, in any case, corresponded to a socialist councilor.

San Ginés knows that there are complicated issues to be taken to the plenary session. Issues that, in any case, should be agreed with the PSOE. I am referring, of course, to the Special Plan of La Geria and the Island Planning Plan.

With his reckless decision he has tried to strike a blow on the table and make it clear that he is the one in charge of the Cabildo. And it has gone wrong. He may be the president, but he is obliged, like any councilor, to respect the agreements and those with whom he agrees.

And that must be said loud and clear, not allowing them to hide behind curtains of mendacious explanations.

Thank you compañera for having done it.
