There are beings that coexist in our environment, participate in our routines, and we have them integrated into our movements, forming part of our lives. Dogs, those beings who need us and whom we need in many moments. Lula, my dog, has left in these days after 10 years of living with her. Her whole life has been marked by the affection I have received, her joy, and companionship. The nature of her affection has been unique, pure, which, upon feeling and contemplating it, has made my soul achieve greater peace and be a better person.
Her life suffered a rapid deterioration, barely a week. After several studies, we managed to find out the cause of it and its prognosis. She received comfort treatment, achieved some improvement, and allowed me to plan, in a timely manner, her end. Lula falls asleep in my arms, taking with her a part of my life, and I am left with the absence of her joy and with my emotional memory of many, many moments shared with her and with the friends who loved her so much.
I want to thank the great professional work with Lula that the veterinarians of the Arrecife clinic - Felipe and Irene - have done. Their effort in the investigation to know her deterioration and the sensitivity they have had with Lula and me in her last moments. Thank you very much.
These words are in tribute to Lula and all the animals that share life with people, and to all those others who seek to have a place of comfort and care. Let's take care of them, give them the love and protection they deserve for all they give us.
