Lanzarote, towards a more supportive and inclusive island

Lanzarote has been consolidating itself in recent times as a true epicenter of solidarity and empathy. Issues such as migration, mental health, or the inclusion of people with functional diversity have ceased to be taboos to become an opportunity to reinforce fundamental values such as respect, coexistence, and social commitment.

This progress is not accidental, but the result of greater collective awareness and the impetus of policies that place people at the center. The visibility of realities that for years remained in the background is allowing the creation of more accessible, open, and participatory spaces, where diversity ceases to be a barrier to become an added value for the entire society.

In this context, it is necessary to recognize the work of the Department of Social Welfare and, especially, that of Marci Acuña, whose work is contributing to lay the foundations for a more inclusive future for the island. Lanzarote advances towards a society freer of prejudices, capable of integrating all groups in a real and enriching way, without forgetting the fundamental role of the citizenry, which perceives and values the positive impact of these initiatives.

This path towards a more just, human, and supportive island is, without a doubt, the fruit of the joint effort of institutions and people committed to the common good.
