We are almost in December and the Fishing School of Lanzarote is still waiting for two teachers, one of Bridge and another of Machines. To make matters worse, the second one is a group tutor. The students are suffering the consequences of all this. Within the affected groups there are young people, parents, people who are unemployed and want to take advantage of studying... The students want to study to build their future, often making great sacrifices to do so.
The General Technical Secretariat of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty gives the impression that it is suffering a kind of paralysis to solve the problem. Time is running and it has not been resolved. The students are risking their future and are waiting for the missing teachers like water in May. What is the Ministry waiting for? Is it waiting for the affected groups to lose the course? These are people who want to train or recycle themselves to enter or consolidate themselves in the maritime fishing sector. Time is gold for them. There is no right to the situation that is being experienced due to the inactivity of the General Technical Secretariat, the same body that since 2018 has been ignoring the teaching staff of the fishing schools for the collection of six-year terms, tutorials and other bonuses.
We believe that it is not appropriate for politicians to throw their belongings at each other trying to get political gain from the situation generated. It is time for those who have to make decisions to make them, and quickly, for the good of public education and society in general. The politicking is too much.
For a quality public education!
