The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, sent a letter this Tuesday to the Minister of Territorial Planning, Territorial Policy and Tourism Planning of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Jesús Machín Tavío, requesting a working meeting to discuss the status and progress of the processing of the Playa Blanca Tourist Modernization Plan. On July 2nd, the municipal leader had already requested this political-technical meeting with more pending issues, which he now reiterates due to the lack of response.

Óscar Noda maintains that "the information we have is conveyed to us by the Government of the Canary Islands and we consider maximum coordination between all intervening administrations to be appropriate." Yaiza received this week from the Canary Islands Government the agreement by which the Executive chaired by Fernando Clavijo accepts the initiative of the island Cabildo for the formulation and processing of the Plan for Modernization, Improvement and Increase of Competitiveness for the tourist center of Playa Blanca and by which the subscription of the cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Territorial Policy, Territorial Cohesion and Water of the Cabildo is authorized for the implementation of the management assignment relating to the formulation of said Plan.

"Although the Government formally notifies us of the agreement, I believe that the Cabildo should also bring positions closer to the City Council, especially because we are immersed in the processing of our General Urban Planning Plan. Therefore, in this new letter I ask the Cabildo to exchange all information on the island and municipal planning," concludes the mayor.
