The Yaiza City Council, presided over by Óscar Noda, published a new tender this Friday for supplies and works in the tourist town of Playa Blanca. This one, specifically, is put out for public tender for 400,000 euros with the aim of renovating the public lighting in 22 streets in the old town.
The Administration informs companies interested in submitting offers and bidding for the contract that they have until Monday, August 31, 2026, to do so.
The initiative seeks to adapt the supply to maintenance, functionality, and aesthetic requirements, by replacing existing poles and luminaires, and installing communication modules for the remote management of lighting. In addition to the main task of optimizing lighting in the streets of the center of Playa Blanca, the modernization of the lighting will improve the safety of drivers and pedestrians.
The City Council explains that LED luminaires require less electrical power to produce the same luminous flux, thus Yaiza aims to reduce electricity consumption by half and lower the electricity bill. The control system for public lighting achieves greater efficiency and a longer lifespan for the new luminaires installed, adjusting operating hours to real needs and reducing light pollution.
The streets subject to the action are: El Anzuelo, El Barranco, El Sebadal, El Palangre, La Lapa, La Herradura, Erizo, El Puestito, La Briota, La Corvina, La Breca, El Cabozo, La Galana, Calamar, La Cabrilla, El Sargo, El Marisco, El Burgao, El Cherne, Los Bebederos, Las Maretas, and Doña Bienvenida Martín.
The Councilor for Public Works of Yaiza, Ángel Lago, highlights that "this week alone we have published three tenders to execute important projects in Playa Blanca: the construction of the library and sociocultural center, the improvements and facilities for the football field, and now the lighting of the old town." Yaiza is allocating 6.5 million euros from its budget to the realization of these three commissions, in addition to the works that are already awarded and in progress.
