Yaiza promotes the purchase of toys without gender bias

The City Council, presided over by Óscar Noda, is taking advantage of this Christmas and Epiphany season to remind the public of the unavoidable commitment to educate in equality from a very early age, betting in the case of 'Give Equality' on the purchase of toys without sexist stereotypes that contribute to the common goal of moving towards a much more respectful and diverse society. Yaiza's awareness campaign stars characters from the children's storybooks published by the municipality, 'Yaiza in the Rubicón' and 'Yaiza and the Uga camel', both illustrated by the designer Nareme Melián.

"With a gesture as simple as buying a toy that lacks sexist nature, we can help our boys and girls have fun integrating better. We want to raise awareness among adults to end prejudices by promoting values such as coexistence and solidarity that distance us from exclusion, whatever the reason," says the Councilor for Equality of Yaiza, Daniel Medina, who together with the Mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, and councilors of the municipal government, unveiled this Friday the image of the campaign in Limones street in the southern town of Playa Blanca.

The City Council understands that this year the purchase of toys will be a great effort for families who can afford it, but in any case presents this campaign that carries an educational and lasting message over time, whose essence is applicable at home, at school and in all areas of life, "and that is why it transcends the Christmas season."
