Yaiza processes the transfer of land for housing and to expand the Playa Blanca health center

"It is a commitment of Yaiza acquired with the citizens that we materialize so that the Government of the Canary Islands drafts, finances and executes the projects, as promised," says the mayor

Visit of public representatives to the plot that will be ceded for housing construction

The Yaiza City Council approved in Plenary, as required, the beginning of the free transfer of land to the Canarian Housing Institute to build 226 social houses in Playa Blanca destined for the protected rental market, as well as the transfer to the Canarian Health Service of a plot adjacent to the current building to enable the expansion of this office. "It is a commitment of Yaiza acquired with the citizens that we materialize so that the Government of the Canary Islands drafts, finances and executes the projects, as promised," says the southern mayor, Óscar Noda.

After the approval in the plenary session last Thursday, in which the municipal government group (UPY-CC) also passed the 2021 Budget, both files are now in the public exhibition period established for 20 days, so that interested parties can submit any allegations they deem appropriate.

Óscar Noda explains that "the files have favorable reports from the Technical Office and Intervention and the plots have certification from the Inventory of Assets and the Property Registry, certifying that the assets are duly registered as assets of the City Council."

226 public houses

Regarding the construction of public houses, the City Council recalls that the regional government sent a letter to Yaiza confirming the inclusion of the municipality in the 20,000 Plan promoted by the Autonomous Community.

The Canarian Executive plans to build 226 social houses on a transferred plot of 42,594 square meters located in the Montaña Roja area, in the tourist town of Playa Blanca, "which in addition to helping to solve the lack of housing, we also hope that it will help regulate rental market prices."

Service improvements at the Health Center

On the other hand, the mayor recalls that the City Council conveyed to the Government of the Canary Islands the demand "to update the Playa Blanca Health Center in line with population growth" and for this it offered a plot of about 3,000 square meters adjacent to the building.

"We have found total understanding from the Canarian Health Service and therefore we share the need to undertake a strong improvement project, enabling a special area for emergencies with a separate entrance and also incorporating the rehabilitation service so that our neighbors do not have to travel to the Dr. Molina Orosa Hospital or concerted centers as they do now," concludes Óscar Noda.
