The Yaiza City Council has paid 6.7 million euros to suppliers between January and May of this 2024. According to the institution in a statement, the council has recorded the payment of invoices for supplies, works, services and subsidies, among other concepts. Thus, it has also defended that these data show that the institution remains at "levels of compliance and trust among small and medium-sized businesses in Lanzarote" and has claimed "municipal seriousness".
"The City Council not only fulfills all its obligations, but also pays in less time than the thirty days established by law to favor the liquidity of small and medium-sized businesses," said the mayor and councilor responsible for Economy and Finance in the south.
Yaiza made effective its contribution of 170,000 euros to the Lanzarote Foreign Promotion Society (SPEL), demanding more investment in the promotion of Yaiza in the context of Lanzarote; paid the fee of 15,000 euros to the Association of Tourist Municipalities of the Canary Islands (AMTC), of which it is a part along with thirteen other reference destinations in the Archipelago; bought the headquarters warehouse in Playa Blanca of the Yaiza Civil Protection Group for 856,000 euros, and strictly complied with the payment of subsidies, including those destined to promote sports.
Óscar Noda has thanked the suppliers for their trust, "from whom we also demand seriousness, of course, and the compliance of residents who pay their fees and taxes. Yaiza is consolidating as the municipality with the lowest unemployment rate in Lanzarote and we are growing in well-being, but we are very aware that there are problems to solve, and we are working on that with management and without skimping on investment," concluded the mayor.
