The Yaiza City Council has published in its contracting profile the technical and administrative specifications for the acquisition through public tender of an industrial building for the use of the Yaiza Civil Protection Association with two basic characteristics: location in Playa Blanca and a minimum area of 950 square meters. The tender includes a base bidding budget of 800,000 euros with a deadline for submitting offers until November 20.

The Councilor for Citizen Security and Civil Protection of Yaiza, Beatriz Vázquez, explains that "we need a property available to the volunteers and all the equipment, vehicles and technical resources that we have in the association, which has been providing an invaluable service to society by supporting the various security and emergency forces. "In addition to improving the provision of resources in favor of citizen security2, we also develop "a training plan with the Yaiza volunteers, in which we have just taught an approved course to prepare professional drone pilots."

The tender specifications detail the characteristics that the building subject to the purchase must meet, including being "free of belongings and in favorable hygienic and aesthetic conditions" for its "immediate use", having "spaces for changing rooms with services, having a warehouse and office, automatic opening door for vehicles of at least 4 meters wide and 6 meters high" and another "independent access with standard measures for users and municipal personnel", having "waterproofed roofing and an integral telephone and communications system".

The most visible face of Civil Protection are the preventive services in events that concentrate residents and tourists, the rescue of people in mountainous or remote places and the health support service, but it also performs an "enormous social work" taking care of the evacuation of sick people from their homes when there are accessibility difficulties or collaborating with institutions that carry out activities with minors, the elderly or people with some functional diversity, without forgetting, of course, their work on various fronts during the pandemic.
