Children and Family Days in Yaiza

The Yaiza Childhood and Family Days, which in 2024 celebrated 25 years of history, toured cultural and educational centers of the municipality last week, spreading the Rights of the Child through puppets, storytelling and music, thus reaching more than 300 boys and girls residing in different locations in the south of Lanzarote.

Óscar Noda highlights that “we have resumed the itinerant spirit of the Days with an active presence in the Benito Pérez Armas House of Culture in Yaiza, the Playa Blanca Library and the schools of Femés, Uga and Las Breñas, offering children's shows that were very well received by our boys and girls and with a high degree of satisfaction, according to families from the municipality”.

The Department of Social Services and the Municipal Minors Team appreciate the participation and involvement of the families of Yaiza, the educational centers, teachers and management teams. The mayor also wants to publicly express his gratitude and that of the municipality “to the team of professionals from the City Council who have not only successfully carried out the Days for 25 years, but also the day-to-day work to defend the rights of our minors and protect them when they are in a situation of vulnerability, a professional, sensitive and vocational work that must be recognized by the entire society”.

The Councilor for Social Services of Yaiza, Karina Centeno, values the high participation of the Days “as a sign of the usefulness of art in the learning process of minors, understanding art not as a living proposal of communication that positively influences the creativity and reflection of children and adults”.

The artistic proposal of the Days was focused on the puppet show Atrapasueños, staged by the Bolina company, and the storytelling accompanied by live music starring the narrator Vicki Dos Santos and the musician Aarón Márquez, to whom the City Council also thanks for their willingness and good work.
