This week, the works of rehabilitation and expansion of the Municipal Funeral Home of San Bartolomé will begin, the town hall has reported. This is a work framed in the 'Municipal Cooperation Plan of the Island Council of Lanzarote', which will last for "six months".
The consistory informs all citizens that during the execution of said work the wake will be installed, provisionally, in the facilities of La Casa Cerdeña, asking that "they apologize for the inconvenience" that the development of said work may cause.
The councilor of the area, Raúl De León, reports that "with this work the mortuary rooms will be adapted to current regulations and, at the same time, a third room will be gained". In addition, it will be provided with "a rest area for family members
and it will be possible to make the common areas more accessible", as well as "alleviate the affectation of inclement weather2. On the other hand, the funeral home will have "new, more comfortable and functional furniture".
For his part, the mayor Isidro Pérez Martín, confirms that "with this work we will not only adapt the funeral home to current regulations, but we will also provide greater comfort and spaciousness to such a sensitive space for family members who come to say goodbye to their loved ones", he concludes.
