The adaptation works of the Masdache sociocultural center in Tías begin, for a value of 354,367.50 euros. Along with this, the partial installation project for the same center also begins.
The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, and the Councilor for Urban Planning, Ulpiano Calero, confirm the need to adapt this space to the needs of the residents of the neighborhood. As they explain, both projects aim to improve the facilities and provide the center with parking spaces by relocating the playground that is located outside the building.
Regarding the planned works, the explanatory report indicates that "it is necessary to carry out a series of actions such as the reform and interior relocation of the bathrooms with the construction of a bathroom adapted for people with reduced mobility, in compliance with the Building Technical Code."
Also necessary, it adds, are "reforms related to health and improvement of thermal conditions, proposing changes in carpentry, painting, waterproofing and maintenance of roofs. Another of the actions, in order to be able to carry out the use for which the building is intended, is to update all the building's installations in accordance with current regulations."
Regarding the exterior space of the building, the playground must be relocated to improve the parking area, pave and provide parking for people with reduced mobility and comply with accessibility requirements. Regarding the playground, its relocation implies the dismantling and subsequent assembly of the games, with the rehabilitation of those elements that are necessary, and the realization of the new pavement of the park.
The City Council insists that all these works are necessary to improve the environment, facilitate access and register the building with the use for which it is intended, complying with all current regulations required for public buildings.
