The president of the Popular Party in the Canary Islands, Asier Antona, has demanded that Podemos "immediately dismiss" the councilor of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Carlos Meca, for a cartoon in El Agitador in which he published a montage on the possible entry of the PP into the government group of the Cabildo under the title "Why do they call it Optimal Levels of Management when they mean sex?". "Those who come to politics handing out cards of morality, those who come talking about the new politics cannot be allowed to do that kind of attitude", Antona pointed out.

"That attitude is absolutely reprehensible, intolerable and repugnant, that is why from the Popular Party of the Canary Islands we show not only all the support, all our affection to the president of the Popular Party in Lanzarote, but we also demand that Podemos ask for the immediate dismissal of the author", Antona declared.

"Podemos cannot look the other way, it has to be aware that this type of attitudes must be eradicated from politics and society", added the president of the PP of the Canary Islands and again asked for the councilor of the Cabildo to be dismissed because "someone who has those sexist attitudes cannot represent the popular will", he sentenced.

Following the publication, the PP, the Canarian Coalition and Ciudadanos have also requested the resignation of the Podemos councilor. For its part, the cartoon from El Agitador has been removed since Friday afternoon.
