The People's Party of Yaiza denounces that, "in another example of improvisation and mismanagement by the Governing group, belongings and waste have been dumped on a plot of land located behind the Playa Blanca clean point, in an area designated as environmentally protected, included in a ZEPA (Special Protection Area for Birds) area".

From the People's Party, it is considered that facts of this nature "demand clear explanations, transparency, and political responsibilities". "We ask the mayor of Yaiza and the responsible councilor, Rubén Arca, to clarify what happened and explain how a situation of these characteristics could have occurred in an environment that requires special protection and environmental care," claims the municipal spokesperson, Juan Monzón.

According to the information verified by the party, the Local Police would have filed the corresponding complaint and issued the relevant report. "Likewise, we have been informed that action has been taken in the area and the belongings that had been buried have been removed. We recognize the importance of any action aimed at correcting the damage, but we consider it essential to clarify the facts, determine possible responsibilities, and guarantee that a similar situation does not happen again," maintains Monzón.

"Removing the waste cannot be the end of the response, and it is necessary to clarify what happened and assume the corresponding responsibilities," adds the spokesperson, who demands that responsibilities be settled, it be known if there are even administrative ones, and that the plot be guaranteed to be left in adequate conditions.

"The protection of Yaiza's territory and natural heritage cannot be left in words. Environmental responsibility must start with the Administration itself, and those in government responsibilities must offer explanations when events occur that cause concern among residents," concludes the spokesperson.
