The island councilor and spokesperson for VOX in the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Oscar Pérez, has reaffirmed his "firm commitment" to the future of the Insular Hospital, underlining that "no one questions its historical and social importance, especially for our elders, but precisely out of respect for that history we cannot remain in emotional speeches".During his speech at the Cabildo, Pérez recalled that the current situation of the Insular Hospital "is a consequence of years of **lack of planning and structural reforms** by the parties that have governed at different times". "It is not honest to present yourselves now as saviors when you did not act when you had the responsibility and the real capacity to do so," he stated. In the same vein, the spokesperson for VOX in the Parliament of the Canary Islands and President of VOX in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Nicasio Galván, defended in the regional Parliament the support for the Insular Hospital of Lanzarote, but was clear in warning that “health policy cannot be based on headlines or promises, but on decisions, deadlines, and budget”.

Firm support, but without blank checks

VOX has announced its support for initiatives that allow guaranteeing the future of the center, both in the Cabildo and in the Parliament, although making it clear that "it is not an automatic or uncritical endorsement".

Óscar Pérez was forceful: "As of today there is no approved Master Plan for Health Infrastructure, the final destination of the Insular Hospital is not defined, there is no calendar or specific budget allocations. Everything else is words".

For his part, Nicasio Galván showed his concern about possible "temporary" transfers that may become permanent solutions without guaranteeing the same quality of care for the elderly, recalling that Lanzarote cannot lose a service that has been a healthcare benchmark for decades.

Defense of the elderly and healthcare professionals

VOX has wanted to put at the center of the debate not only the infrastructure, but also those who sustain it.

Pérez highlighted that "for the hospital to function, it is not enough to maintain the building; we must guarantee resources, stability, and recognition for healthcare professionals".Likewise, the training insists that the aging of the population is a growing reality in Lanzarote and throughout the Canary Islands, so **health planning must be serious, realistic, and with a vision for the future**.

Institutional coordination and permanent surveillance

With this joint position, VOX "reinforces its role as a coordinated political force between Lanzarote and the regional Parliament, transferring the defense of the island's interests to all institutions".

“We will support everything that is good for Lanzarote,” concluded Oscar Pérez, “but we will be vigilant so that the Insular Hospital is not diluted in an eternal plan nor does it become another unfulfilled promise”.

From VOX they insist that the Insular Hospital cannot be used as a propaganda tool. "It deserves real decisions, guaranteed funding, and a clear timeline. Lanzarote can't wait any longer".
