Vox demands the "immediate" dismissal of Ángel Vázquez after a position in the Centers was awarded to his son

Óscar Pérez, VOX councilor and member of the Board of Directors of the Tourist Centers, calls the change announced by the PP a "distraction maneuver".

Following the publication of the legal report issued by the secretariat of the Board of Directors of the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism (CACT) of Lanzarote, the councilor of the VOX Political Group in the insular corporation and member of the administrative body of the public entity has expressed his "firmest, most categorical and forceful" stance against what he describes as "an intolerable nepotism scandal".

The legal report confirms that the then CEO, Ángel Vázquez (PP), flagrantly violated the law by not abstaining in the public competition for permanent cleaner positions in which his son was participating, signing definitive resolutions in favor of his direct relative.

As a direct member of the Board of Directors of the Tourist Centers, the VOX representative has harshly denounced the response offered by the government pact (CC-PP). “That the Popular Party announces that it is removing Vázquez to replace him with María Jesús Tovar is a crude charade. Coincidentally, the councilor has been on medical leave since October 9, so they are using a medical situation to disguise what should be an immediate dismissal and the immediate surrender of his seat in the Cabildo plenary,” declared the VOX councilor.

Immediate Measures on the Board of Directors

"VOX will not allow Coalición Canaria and the Popular Party to use the Tourist Centers as a placement agency for their acronyms," they have warned. Therefore, using his prerogatives as a member of the entity's Board of Directors, the VOX councilor will immediately submit the following requests:

-Execution of voidability: To demand strict compliance with the legal report of the CACT secretariat, reverting the selection process to the exact moment when the abstention should have occurred, ensuring the total integrity of the process and protecting the rights of applicants who acted in good faith.

-Mandatory surrender of the seat: VOX emphasizes that removing Vázquez from the management of the Tourist Centers "is insufficient." "If the president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, had a minimum of respect for the institution, he would demand the definitive expulsion of the councilor from the insular plenary," they highlighted.

-Exhaustive oversight of the CACT: VOX will force the review of all employment calls, hirings, and job pools signed under the mandate of Ángel Vázquez to ensure that the constitutional principles of equality, merit, and capacity are scrupulously met.

“While thousands of people from Lanzarote attend public employment calls trusting the system, the old politics signs their children's contracts in offices. In VOX, we defend honest opponents and we will not stop until we clean the Cabildo's public companies of any shadow of corruption or favoritism. Either the minutes are handed over, or the government pact will be an accomplice to this outrage,” concludes the spokesperson
