The Teguise City Council has launched a public call for citizens to be the protagonists in the election of the theme for the 2026 Carnival.
Until September 29, 2025, all interested persons may participate in the voting through the official website of the Council: www.teguise.es. The allegories proposed for this edition are México Lindo y Más Allá, the festival of the Catrinas; A World of Fantasy: Tales and Magic; Legends of the Caribbean: Pirates and Corsairs; and Legendary Texas, Teguise and Legends of the West.
The mayoress of Teguise, Olivia Duque, highlighted that "Carnival is one of the most beloved and awaited festivals of the municipality, and for this reason we are committed to ensuring that citizens have a voice from the beginning of the process. We want to continue building inclusive, representative festivals that reinforce Teguise's identity as a cultural and festive reference point in Lanzarote."
For his part, the Councilor for Festivities, Andoni Machín, encouraged the population "to join this open vote, because the Teguise Carnival is a reflection of the creativity and participation of our people, and we want the chosen allegory to be the result of popular sentiment."
Once the winning allegory is known, the City Council will open the competition for the creation of the official poster of the 2026 Carnival, the bases of which will be announced soon. The celebrations will take place in Costa Teguise, Teguise and La Graciosa between March 2 and 15, 2026.
The Teguise City Council invites all citizens to actively participate in this vote and be part of the creative process of a festival that, every year, brings together thousands of people around music, tradition and joy.
