Visocan, the public company of the Government of the Canary Islands, has awarded the construction of another 200 public homes in the Maneje neighborhood, in Arrecife. This was announced by the mayor of the capital, Yonathan de León, on his social media.
These new homes will be built on land ceded to Visocan by the Arrecife City Council next to the other 201 homes, also public, which are almost finished and are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
This project that has been awarded, according to the mayor, "has won an architecture and engineering firm from Lanzarote".
Furthermore, he pointed out that by the end of this 2026, the Canary Islands government plans to tender these three buildings of social housing.
The housing emergency that Lanzarote and the rest of the Canary Islands are suffering is causing 42% of Canary Islanders to be forced to leave the islands, according to an analysis by the search engine Fotocasa.
In the case of Arrecife, the square meter reached 2,212 euros last March, 15.1% more than a year ago, according to the price index from Idealista.com
