The Canary Coalition Assembly in Haría has re-elected Víctor Robayna as head of the Local Secretariat, after the unanimous vote of all the members gathered this Saturday at the "La Tegala" Cultural Center in the northern municipality.

The event was attended by the island secretary of the nationalist formation on the island, Migdalia Machín, who highlighted the "exemplary" nature of the process of renewing the municipal bodies, since "the period of internal renewal is a key process for the consolidation of the Canary Coalition as an organization, which should lead us to lead again the political change that this island demands.”

The assembly was also attended by the Secretary of Organization, Echedey Eugenio, as well as the local secretaries of Yaiza (Mateo Ramón), San Bartolomé (Eduardo Díaz), and Teguise (Toni Callero). The mayor of Haría, Chaxiraxi Niz, was also present, who in her speech highlighted the importance that this mayor's office has for the Canary Coalition and took the opportunity to "thank my local committee for their support, which has been very important to me and fundamental to carry out the work as mayor.”

Before the vote, the local secretary began his speech highlighting the "strength" of the Canary Coalition in Haría. "We obtained 1,034 votes and with it five councilors, which made us the most voted force, while the PSOE was the second and the PMH the third," he recalled.

Thanks to Marci Acuña

Likewise, Robayna wanted to publicly highlight the role played by the head of the list in the last elections, Marciano Acuña, "in the process of guaranteeing governability" in the City Council. "We were clear that in order to carry out all the projects that the municipality needed, it could not be achieved with a government in minority, so our colleague Marci Acuña was always willing to give in, to put aside personal egos and to put on the table everything that was necessary to guarantee the future and well-being of the citizens of Haría.”

After making a brief tour of the events that have marked the evolution of the legislature with the CC-PSOE pact that led to its rupture "due to the breach of a basic principle such as broken loyalty", Robayna highlighted the importance that the agreement after the motion of censure has had for the municipality, which meant that "Chaxiraxi Niz became the first female mayor in the history of our municipality.”

The secretary of the Local Committee of Haría also wanted to express his gratitude "to our colleagues from the island executive, for giving us their support in the complicated moments of this long process.”

After the subsequent vote, which resulted in the approval of the list headed by Víctor Robayna himself, he took the floor again to outline the lines of action of the committee during the new term that is now beginning.

The first words after revalidating the position were for the members of the assembly, whom he asked to "move forward looking ahead, not through the rearview mirror, and learning both from mistakes and achievements." In this section, he also thanked the work done by "those colleagues who for various reasons decided to follow other paths because they were also part of our history.”

Robayna advanced that the road ahead will not be easy. "I know the difficulties and obstacles that this new mandate holds for us, to continue believing in a better Haría, and to continue fighting to maintain a nationalist unity that helps us to consecrate absolute majorities in future campaigns as the only formula to achieve investments and quality of life for our people, because talking about the Canary Coalition in Haría is talking about history, roots, artisan hands, eight green stars, women and men of Haría.”

Finally, Víctor Robayna referred to the challenges that the new municipal executive will have to face, which he summarized in "conquering the streets again, recovering contact with the people - which we have lost during the pandemic - to continue being the transmission belt between the citizens and the party.”
