Verdes Equo has gathered its members in Lanzarote in an internal party event in which it has set the guidelines to "strengthen the organic structure on the island." The meeting, held at the Sociedad Democracia de Arrecife, serves to present the brand socially, “not as a rib of another party or coalition, but as its own and independent project”, they say from the formation.
In the words of Ester Gómez Brodsky, co-spokesperson for the autonomous community of the formation and councilor in the Arrecife city council, “with this meeting we are putting Verdes Equo as a solid political actor on the island” and added that “this presentation should have been done years ago when landing on the island, but there has been interest in covering us up.” One of the people who has joined the team, the lawyer Elsa Betancort Martínez, affirms that “our political lines are in line with the feeling of our island and we hope to have the support of the people of Lanzarote”.
Betancort, who has been collaborating with the formation and with Gómez Brodsky for some time, anticipates that the intention of Verdes Equo on the island is “to present ourselves in as many municipalities as possible and in the Island Council”, and clarifies that the intention “is to make realistic lists with people willing to work for four years. Of course, we contemplate the possibility of taking the step in coalition with nearby formations.”
Finally, Ester Gómez emphasizes the character and objective of the brand: “We believe that there are different ways of approaching politics and we intend to put the person and their life at the center, empower society, and trust again in a team capable of carrying out the transformations that Lanzarote needs.”
