The agents will carry out their duties under the supervision of their colleagues already on active duty, which will allow them to apply the knowledge acquired during their training and learn first-hand the particularities of the service on an island.

The Island Director of the General State Administration in Lanzarote, Pedro Viera, this Friday officially welcomed the 20 trainee civil guards who are joining the different posts on the island to complete the second phase of their training period.

During the event, the Island Director highlighted that this incorporation "represents an important reinforcement for the services provided in Lanzarote" and underlined "the deep respect and appreciation that the Lanzarote society has for the Civil Guard, an institution that is an essential part of the social fabric and security on the island."

The trainee agents will carry out their duties under the supervision of their colleagues already on active duty, which will allow them to apply the knowledge acquired during their training and learn first-hand the particularities of the service in an island territory such as Lanzarote.

"The presence of these new personnel is part of the sustained effort that the State is making to reinforce the human and material resources dedicated to guaranteeing citizen security on the island," the Island Director pointed out.

In that sense, he recalled that the crime rate in Lanzarote is currently below the average for the State as a whole and the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, and that the percentage of crime solving is higher than the national and regional average, "data that reflect the commitment and professionalism of our Security Forces and Corps."

Finally, he highlighted the strategic importance of the Civil Guard in an environment such as Lanzarote, "where geographical dispersion, migratory pressure and the tourist character of the island make a solid, close and effective presence essential."

The arrival of these new trainee civil guards constitutes "one more sign of the commitment of the Government of Spain to the security and well-being of all citizens of Lanzarote."
