The Management of Health Services of the Lanzarote Health Area, attached to the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, awarded this Tuesday, September 8, the works for the expansion of the Tinajo Local Health Center to the company HORINSA, S.L. for an amount of 656,980 euros.
The expansion project of the Health Center contemplates the creation of a new medical consultation room, a nursing consultation room, and a large multipurpose room that can be used by different professionals. The action represents an increase of 131.42 square meters over the built area of the building.
This expansion of the Tinajo Health Center is a necessary project to meet the healthcare demand of this basic health area, which has experienced population growth in recent years.
The contracting was carried out through an open procedure for simplified award and ordinary processing, and the works have an execution period of four months.
More than 6,000 health cards
The Tinajo Local Health Center, in the San Bartolomé Basic Health Zone, has a total of 6,607 individual health cards assigned to it, of which 863 correspond to the pediatric population and the rest to the adult population.
The human team providing assistance at the health center consists of four doctors of Family and Community Medicine, one pediatrician, six nurses, one physiotherapist, one midwife, one nursing care technician, one social worker, and three administrative assistants.
Activity in 2025
Throughout last year, the Tinajo Local Health Center registered 36,898 Family Medicine consultations and 5,968 Pediatric consultations. For their part, the Nursing staff attended 21,821 consultations, the Physiotherapy service 2,399, the Midwife performed 675, and the Social Worker 754.
