The Tías City Council is carrying out the necessary procedures so that the municipality will have fourteen new Local Police officers in 2027. It is foreseen that the public employment offers of 2025 and 2026 will conclude in the coming months and that these new officers will be active by March of next year.
The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, recalls that there are currently a total of 40 active officers in the municipality, "a number that we try to increase with the public employment offer procedures per year".
"To the third call for positions made in 2025, we have added the new call for 2026, so in less than a year we will have 14 new officers. We are increasing two to comply with the Budgetary Stability Law and our objective of zero debt," he explains.
The 2025 public employment offer establishes the creation of six Local Police officer positions, the selection process for which has already begun. These positions are included in the third unified annual call to fill the positions offered by the Tías City Council, which has delegated its competence for the selection of local police positions to the Ministry of the Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice and Security of the Government of the Canary Islands.
In April 2026, the public employment offer from the Tías City Council was published, providing for another eight vacancies for Local Police officers through a free opposition selection system. The local council sent the request to add these eight positions to the third call of 2025, thus expanding the number of vacancies in the free turn.
Furthermore, another vacant position is added to these, which has been directly announced by the City Council through a transfer competition for a Local Police officer, pending the selection process. Two internal promotion positions for Local Police Sergeant through an opposition competition are also being offered, the call for which will take place throughout this year 2026.
