The Tías Town Council intends to connect the urban center of the municipality with Lugar de Abajo through the asphalting of the Berriel road. The council has sent the project to the Department of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands for environmental assessment.
The Town Council is thus advancing in the final procedures to execute this asphalting and facilitate communication between the southeast of the nucleus of Tías and the areas called Lugar de Abajo and Lugar de Arriba, "avoiding the use of excessively narrow and unsafe roads, and of greater distance, as the only connection between these areas, that is, the Barranco de las Truchas and the Camino La Calera", the council said in a statement.
"The aim is to provide the municipality with a safe, comfortable and adequate road for the types of mobility demanded by the population, to put an end to the existing environmental impacts resulting from the noise and dust emissions currently generated by traffic on the road, and to provide the road with the safety conditions that minimize the risks to the population that uses it on a regular basis", the organization added.
This project will also "reduce the costs of maintenance and conservation of the road, which has a length of 574.70 linear meters".
