The Tías City Council has recently managed the removal of at least fourteen vehicles from municipal public roads after remaining parked for more than a month with damage and signs of abandonment and after the corresponding administrative procedures were carried out.

The roads where work has been carried out are Peña del Asiento road, El Mesón road, Los Olivos road, Ángel Guerra streets, Pío XII, Violeta del Teide, the cemetery area, Rambla Islas Canarias, Juan Carlos I, Alegranza street, Agrupación Gaida, Ancla and Rociega.

From the local administration, after verifying the state of the vehicles, a requirement is sent to the owner so that they have the possibility to voluntarily remove the vehicle. When they refuse, a scrapping company is requested to remove it for its decontamination and definitive deregistration.

The removal of abandoned vehicles on the road entails an improvement of public spaces, of safety and of environmental conservation, inasmuch as these are sources of contamination by containing oils, batteries, brake fluids and other toxic components.

The Tías City Council regrets that there are still abandoned cars on land and on the public roads of the municipality, with deflated tires and occupying a parking space. It reminds that having abandoned vehicles on public roads can lead to sanctions.
