The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, has expressed "his satisfaction" with the participation of the municipality and its tourist center, Puerto del Carmen, in the inauguration today of the International Tourism Fair of Madrid (Fitur) and the Canary Islands stand.

Cruz Saavedra, accompanied by his Tourism team, also attended the inauguration of the Cicar stand, the leading car rental company in the Canary Islands, and the Association of Tourist Municipalities of the Canary Islands (Amtc), where he spoke with the Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres.

The mayor of Tías elaborated on "the challenges of the archipelago in tourism matters, linking the destinations with the new intelligence systems and with the collective responsibility of balancing tourism innovation with its positive impact on citizens."

The inauguration of the Amtc stand, of which the municipality of Tías is a member, was attended by Canary Islands mayors and councilors, as well as the Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Jéssica de León.

Among the common projects of the Amtc in which the Tías City Council participates, Canary Green, destination decarbonization, stands out, which will work on the green and sustainable transition, energy efficiency, digital transition and competitiveness.

On the other hand, José Juan Cruz attended the award ceremony of the Innovation and Modernization of Tourism Companies in the Canary Islands Awards, in its IX edition, in which the award for digital innovation was given to Villas Alondra, located in Puerto del Carmen.

On the afternoon of this Wednesday, he will participate, among other events, in the signing of Turismo Lanzarote as an Intelligent Tourist Destination (DTI). The Tías City Council signed the agreement with Segittur in 2022 and received the recognition plaque as DTI in January 2023, but the municipality is also part of the island's tourism promotion and this new distinction.
