The Tías City Council has invested, with its own funds from municipal coffers, a total of 1,336,313.76 euros in the project to renovate public lighting with LED technology on 32 streets in the center of Tías, which includes both Alcalde Florencio Suárez avenue and the surrounding paths and streets.
The streets included in this project are the central avenue Alcalde Florencio Suárez, Berriel and El Vallito paths, and Severo Ochoa, Ángel Guerra, Mencey, Libertad, Aulaga, Guanche, Fajardo, Bencomo, Aniagua, José María Gil, Hinojo, San Blas, Dr. Fleming, Pablo VI, Pío XII, José Negrín, Juan XXIII, Reyes Católicos, Eleuterio Camacho, El Pavón, Lorenzo Álvarez, Sarapico, Varichuelo, Víctor Fernández Gopar, Guayres, Agustín de la Hoz, Teowaldo Power, La Caldera, and Faycán streets.
The intervention consists of the dismantling of the current lighting, both luminaires and wiring, creating new conduits with their corresponding pipes and inspection boxes, new cable layout, installation of new, more efficient columns and luminaires, and a new electrical panel. 381 luminaires will be installed at different heights, mainly at 5 meters for lighting sidewalks and parking lots, and at 8 meters for lighting the roadway.
The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, confirms that work is already underway in different phases, and therefore shares the disposition of the government team and municipal technical services to assist the residents of the area with any incidents that may arise during the development of the work.
The Councilor for Urban Planning, Ulpiano Calero, points out that this project is an essential step for the transformation of the municipality, as it will provide a more efficient and safe network, with considerable energy savings and lower maintenance costs.
For his part, the Councilor for Public Lighting, Sergio García, indicates that among the main advantages of LED lighting, “we highlight the superior quality light distribution, the absence of mercury, infrared, and ultraviolet radiation, and the significant reduction of light pollution”.
