The Tías City Council has invested a total of 1,176,663.83 euros from municipal funds in the execution of the public lighting renovation project with LED lighting on several streets in the La Candelaria area. The objective is to improve the luminous performance of the roads, contribute to energy savings, and reduce CO2 emissions.
The works, which are currently underway, affect La Candelaria square, Vista de Tías, La Candelaria, Talisca, Las Cuestas, Barranco del Puente, La Vega, Gabriel Díaz, Los Fajardo, Las Claras paths, T-12, T10, T-9, T-64 streets, and LZ-35 (section between the road from Tías and San Bartolomé).
According to the project, the replacement of 123 sodium vapor luminaires with 260 LED luminaires represents an annual energy saving of 18.98 MWh, an estimated reduction in CO2 emissions of 7.59 tons per year, and an improvement in the quality of public lighting service and reduction of operational expenses.
The mayor, José Juan Cruz, the first deputy mayor, Nicolás Saavedra, and the councilors for Urban Planning and Public Lighting, Ulpiano Calero and Sergio García, visited the area together with representatives of the awarded company to supervise the works. "This measure contributes to the objectives of energy efficiency, sustainability, and climate change mitigation," declared the mayor.
The intervention consists of dismantling the current lighting installation, including luminaires and wiring, creating new conduits with their corresponding pipes and inspection boxes, new cable routing, installation of new poles and luminaires, and a new electrical panel. The installation will allow for the illumination of sidewalks, parking areas, and the roadway.
