The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, emphasized in the Plaza de Conil that “Tías is today a municipality more efficient and a leader in investment, with zero debt and strategic projects related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Puerto del Carmen as an Intelligent Tourist Destination and with direct attention to families and the elderly.”
He stated this during his appearance with the first deputy mayor, Nicolás Saavedra, and his government team to take stock of the municipal management carried out in 2024. Both underlined their commitment to “work for the citizens by offering direct services and creating the necessary infrastructures so that everything works like a perfect gear,” said José Juan Cruz Saavedra.
The mayor highlighted “the excellent state of our accounts and the municipal treasury, “key for everything to work” and described some energy efficiency projects such as the replacement of conventional lighting with LED lighting in Conil, La Asomada and Puerto del Carmen, in addition to its upcoming execution in Masdache; or the repaving of roads such as El Callao II and Los Fajardo, in Tías.
One of the factors of Tías' “economic success” is the leadership and progress in large-scale projects such as the Urban Agenda, whose call is open for interested companies to apply, the Sustainable Mobility Plan, Agenda 2030, SECAPs, Tourism Sustainability Plans, ZeConsciente, Intelligent Tourist Destination, Canary Green and Tías Cuídame, among others.
Social welfare and family with 680 interactions
Nicolás Saavedra unraveled the work carried out during 2024 in the areas of Minors and Family, Animal Welfare and Seniors, where, for example, the number of specific workshops for cognitive improvement to which 123 seniors attended has increased, in addition to courses for muscle and bone improvement.
In 2024, 680 interactions were recorded with users of the municipality and specific services were derived to the 49 groups of different disciplines that work through nominated subsidies but coordinated through the Conecta Tías community strategy.
With respect to minors, Saavedra highlighted the increase in the budget to 150,000 euros of the Day Service that is offered to 25 children in the municipality when school hours end and until 5:30 p.m. to guarantee family reconciliation. This service is included in the Co-responsible Plan, which has state and regional funding.
