The highest representatives of the Tías City Council congratulated this Friday the Tías Local Police agent Lucía Franco Pascual for the 12 medals, 10 golds and 2 silvers, obtained in the European Police and Firefighter Games held this month in Vigo.

The agent was received by the mayor, José Juan Cruz, the first deputy mayor, Nicolás Saavedra, the councilor for Economy and Finance, Tomás Silvera, and the chief officer of the Tías Local Police, José Antonio Hernández, who highlighted the excellent role played in her first European competition.

Lucía Franco Pascual has worked as an agent of the Tías Local Police since 2024, has been training crossfit continuously since the pandemic, and this is the first time she has participated in European games, achieving extraordinary results in various disciplines such as weightlifting, powerlifting, crossfit, and precision shooting with a 9mm pistol.

In weightlifting, she won four golds, both in snatch and clean and jerk, combined, and absolute. In powerlifting, she also obtained another four golds distributed in squat, bench press, deadlift, and combined.

In crossfit, she was proclaimed champion with two golds in individual RX and pairs RX alongside the Arrecife officer, who also won another five gold medals and three silvers. Finally, Lucía Franco took the individual silver in precision shooting with a 9mm pistol and the team silver in the same discipline alongside agents from Frontex and Mossos d’ Esquadra.

The next appointment with high-level competition, if she obtains institutional support that allows her to travel to Oceania, could be the World Police and Firefighter Games (WPFG) which will take place next March in Perth, Australia.

Regarding her participation in the European Games, Lucía Franco states that "it was a very satisfying experience." "I was very pleasantly surprised by the large number of women, mostly young, who were competing, especially female firefighters and national police officers, but also examples like a 68-year-old retired woman who continues to compete in the games," she adds.

The truth is, she concludes, "it is an extraordinary opportunity to also see what they do and how they work in other countries. I suppose we all appreciate being able to combine our profession with the lifestyle we want to lead, training and improving every day."
