The municipality of Tías joins the commemoration of International Women's Day with a varied program that seeks to make visible the role of women in society and promote gender equality. The agenda of activities will start on March 7 and will extend until March 15, including vindictive, cultural and leisure events.

The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, emphasizes the importance of this celebration, since March 8 "is not just a date on the calendar, but a reminder of the effort and struggle of many women throughout history. From the City Council we continue working to make equality a reality in all areas of our society."

The first deputy mayor and councilor for Equality, Nicolás Saavedra, advances that "the programmed activities have been designed to involve all citizens, because equality is a collective commitment. We want Tías to be an example of coexistence and equity, and these acts reflect that commitment."

The program starts on March 7 with the reading of a manifesto in the Town Hall Square at 12:00 noon by a representative of the Social and Cultural Association for Women Mararía and interpreted by sign language through the Signalanz cooperative.

After the manifesto, where information will be provided on women and girls in all their diversity, there will be a flashmob-style dance to the rhythm of the iconic song performed by Gloria Gaynor: I will survive. This flashmob will be carried out with the collaboration of Alba Weyland and Tere Rasmussen.

On March 8, the citizens of Tías will have the opportunity to join the island demonstration called in La Plazuela de Arrecife at 12:00 noon, from where the expansion of rights, power and opportunities for all will be claimed, as recommended by the United Nations.

On March 13, the Municipal Theater of Tías will host the Women with a Mark gala at 8:00 p.m., which will also feature the interpretation of Signalanz. The event, in which recognition will be given to several women from the municipality, will feature the participation of the Voces al Viento quartet and the show For and For Them, starring Marey Martín and Adrián Sánchez. Likewise, recognition plaques will be given to women who have left their mark on the municipality.

To close the program, on March 15 the activity Trail with a Mark will be held, a walk from Los Lirios to the Tegoyo picnic area. With a low difficulty and a route of 3 km, this walk seeks to promote community participation in a natural environment. Registrations can be made through the email o.agroecologiaydr@ayuntamientodetias.
