Plenary session of the Tías Town Hall

The Tías City Council approved this Tuesday in a plenary session, with the opposition voting against, a budget of 31,445,036.54 euros for the year 2025. This document, with a marked social character, contemplates a historic investment of 18.6 million euros destined to improvements in infrastructures, services and key projects for the development of the municipality.

The government team, formed by PSOE and Unidas Sí Podemos, has designed accounts that reinforce social welfare, employment and sustainability policies, while consolidating the economic growth of the municipality and its position as a tourist reference.

The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, highlighted that "this city council is the first on the island to approve its budgets, which, in addition, we designed taking into account accounting prudence and counting on the subsequent arrival of subsidies from other administrations, so the municipal accounts increase to 42 million euros."

Cruz Saavedra highlighted the section on investments, which includes projects that are already underway, projects with a contract or in the contracting phase, such as the works on the Camino Berriel, the Ramblas Islas Canarias, the sanitation of Timanfaya street, the air conditioning of the Fondeadero, playgrounds or public lighting with LED technology in different points of the municipal district.

The first deputy mayor, Nicolás Saavedra, pointed out that this budget "is designed to promote the well-being of our neighbors, following the line of the significant increase in our commitment to the social base through the Conecta Tías community strategy and other services. Chapter IV has increased by 59.9% since 2019 and that translates into greater inclusion, equality and support for vulnerable groups."

The Councilor for Finance, Tomás Silvera, explained that the approved document "allows to consolidate the economic stability of Tías and strengthen its investment capacity without resorting to debt, maintaining the City Council's commitment to efficiency in the management of public resources." Silvera defended accounts that are also based on "modernizing infrastructures, generating employment, improving our tourist image and reinforcing the sustainability of the municipality".

According to Silvera, "we continue betting on the tourism sector with projects such as the Tourism Sustainability Plan Turística Lanzarote, the energy of the Earth, endowed with 2.85 million euros, the calendar of events such as St. Patrick`s Festival or Ironman and the modernization of Puerto del Carmen, whose III Plan is about to be approved".

Regarding the environment and sustainability, the improvement of the sanitation network and the ecological transition of the municipality will begin, aligning local development with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
