The municipality of Tías has a blue flag this year on the beaches of Playa Blanca (Grande), Matagorda, Pocillos and Pila de la Barrilla (Playa Chica), located in the tourist town of Puerto del Carmen, according to the resolution made public this Tuesday by the Association of Environmental Education and Consumer (ADEAC).

This distinctive recognizes the quality of the waters, safety, accessibility, provision of services, and environmental management of the beaches.

The Tías City Council highlights the awarding of these blue flags in Puerto del Carmen, the main tourist center of the municipality, which in 2026 commemorates its 60th anniversary as an international destination.

The mayor, José Juan Cruz, points out that “these recognitions highlight the work that is continuously carried out on the beaches of Puerto del Carmen and reinforce the image of the municipality as a tourist destination”.

The Councilor for Beaches, Christopher Notario, indicates that “the awarding of the blue flags responds to compliance with the criteria required in terms of services, maintenance, safety, and environmental management”.

The Tías City Council "will continue working on the improvement and maintenance of its coastline, especially in Puerto del Carmen, with the aim of guaranteeing adequate services for both residents and visitors".
