The Public Works Area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, directed by the counselor Jacobo Medina, has removed more than 321,600 kilograms of waste from the margins of the island roads between January and July 2026, within the permanent conservation and maintenance tasks that are developed throughout the road network.

The works, executed by the road conservation service, include the removal of all types of abandoned waste and belongings, as well as cleaning and conditioning actions on the margins, improving road safety, the island's image, and landscape conservation.

The counselor of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, highlighted that “the removal of more than 321,600 kilos of waste evidences the enormous effort that conservation staff makes daily to keep our roads in the best conditions. However, these figures also remind us that there is still a long way to go in terms of citizen awareness”.

Likewise, Medina stressed that “from the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, we continue to work constantly so that our roads are safer, better preserved, and project the image that our island deserves. Caring for public spaces is a shared responsibility between administrations and all citizens”.

The Public Works Area will continue to carry out these actions periodically in the different municipalities of the island, "reinforcing its commitment to the conservation of the road network and the improvement of the environment".
