The Arrecife City Council will organize the institutional event for World Tourism Day in October, where the Arrecife City Tourism Awards will be presented to outstanding professionals, companies, and events that have contributed to the consolidation of Lanzarote's capital as a destination, and to its external projection, with its own brand and identity.
The Arrecife Tourism Board, made up of professionals and representatives of business, tourism, and professional organizations, attached to the Department of Tourism and Commerce, has awarded the Arrecife City Tourism Awards 2026 to the Hotel Lancelot, one of the most historic accommodation establishments in the city, in the Tourism Award category. For business or professional career, to the outstanding restaurateur Orlando Ortega, creator of the Lilium restaurant.
The visual artist, and creator of the Lanzarote Visual Music Festival, Ildefonso Aguilar de la Rúa, has been recognized with the Arrecife Tourism award for cultural or artistic career, and in the sports category to Hecher Sosa, outstanding Spanish mixed martial artist, who currently competes in the bantamweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, being the first Spaniard to enter the promotion through the Dana White's Contender Series program, achieved a year ago.
The members of the jury have also awarded the Arrecife Tourism award, in the promotional event category, to the Lava Live Festival, which since its first edition in 2024 has had the city of Arrecife as the venue for its major musical concerts with the presence of internationally renowned artists.
From the Arrecife City Council, through the Department of Tourism, a special recognition will be awarded at the institutional gala for Tourism Day in Arrecife, to be held in October, to the entrepreneur and promoter Natalio Cruz, creator of the company Lanzarote Limusinas, which celebrates its twentieth anniversary of successful business life this 2026.
The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, has highlighted the great contribution to the development and projection of Arrecife and Lanzarote, of all the people, companies, and events awarded in this 2026 edition of the Arrecife City Tourism Awards. "They all carry in their DNA their union with Arrecife, which, with a past as a port and coastal city, looks to tourism as a future strategy, and our awardees have been rowing with that vision of the future in the sectors of tourism, hospitality, culture, sports, and the arts," emphasized the mayor of the capital of Lanzarote.
For her part, the Councilor for Tourism and Commerce, Eli Merino, remarked that, throughout the history of the people and companies awarded these prizes, "lies the tourist history of Arrecife, which is consolidated and positioned as a great destination with the strengths of our leading economic sectors, having the port, nautical activities, culture, leisure, gastronomy, and cultural or musical events as the magnet for the success achieved."
The Department of Tourism and Commerce has planned for the month of October the celebration of the institutional event for World Tourism Day, with the presentation of these awards, and the presence of the distinguished people and companies.
