The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, the deputy mayor, Echedey Eugenio, and the councilor of Housing, Rosmen Quevedo, accompanied this Friday morning the president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, and the councilor Pablo Rodríguez in his visit to the Los Geranios plots, in the Maneje neighborhood, where 134 Social Protection homes are being built.
These properties were transferred by the capital's consistory, within the framework of the Canary Islands Housing Plan 2020-2025 for the capital of the island.
During the visit to this action, which included the technical explanation of the head of the Public Promotion Service of Las Palmas (ICAVI), the authorities were able to see these two blocks, of 67 homes each, being executed, and check the additional land on which another 67 homes will be built, which are currently under intervention for inspection prior to the bidding process.
The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, has highlighted that "the city will see in this mandate that we will make it possible for two hundred and one families to access their first social homes. One of the commitments of our Government group becomes reality. I know the critical situation that exists on the island to have housing. From the City Council we continue with a work plan to build more public housing. I am the son of a family that since my childhood lived in a social house in the neighborhood of Las Salinas".
Arrecife, the mayor pointed out, "is setting a good example to other neighboring municipalities, where we have ceded municipal land, and the houses are already under construction".
The president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, has pointed out that "for this Government, housing is a priority and we are demonstrating it in the eight months that we have been in the legislature. I believe that we have acted bravely and thanks to that we are fulfilling the objectives set in terms of Social Protection Housing for the capital of the island and for the rest of Lanzarote".
For his part, the first deputy mayor, Echedey Eugenio, has valued the work of the Government of Fernando Clavijo and has emphasized "the importance of the Decree Law of urgent measures in housing matters, recently approved by the Canarian Executive to continue streamlining this policy so necessary not only for Arrecife but for all the Canary Islands, and encourage the private sector to build protected housing, in order to cover all the housing demand that exists at this time. Soon we will have homes in Arrecife to deliver to the people who need it".
In the same line, the capital's head of Housing, Rosmen Quevedo, has stressed that "Arrecife suffers an important housing crisis that we must solve and with these actions we are already taking an important step to solve one of the main concerns of the population".
Quevedo has also recalled that the housing decree makes it easier to have more land to build housing and that it is cheaper.
